Grisdales Staff Notch Up Miles for North Cumbria Foodbank 22 May 2021
Earlier in the year we set ourselves a team challenge – completing the world’s longest uninterrupted walk from Cape Town, Africa to Magada, Russia. All 14,764.4 miles of it! We’ve been very busy getting those steps in and everyone within the company has been involved.
So far, we’ve racked up an impressive 4552 miles… by walking, cycling, swimming, gardening and even knitting!
Beverly Has Been Crunching the Numbers!
Our Executive Assistant, Beverly, works in our Cockermouth office has been keeping tally of our teams efforts – converting our teams yoga classes and garden weeding in to steps.
Weather permitting, Beverly herself walks the seven-mile round trip to work everyday which is no mean feat in itself. She also walks for an hour on her lunch break and gets the mileage in digging in her allotment. She said the whole challenge has been really motivating and has enjoyed sharing our step-count and photos in the WhatsApp group.
We decided to set ourselves a team challenge during lockdown, when everyone was looking forward to getting out and about more. Initially our team picked the Land’s End to John O Groats walk, but we thought we could go bigger before deciding on the world’s longest uninterrupted walk! It’s been fantastic to get our team moving and giving back to the community with each step we take.
The Nominators Are Open
Every time we hit a 2,000-mile checkpoint we’re donating £100 to a local charity. So far, we’ve donated to two fantastic local charities; North Cumbria Foodbank and Cockermouth Hospital League of Friends.
The team are really keen and motivated to reach our next 2000-mile checkpoint and donate again to another worthy local cause.
WE’RE STILL LOOKKING FOR NOMINATIONS & HOPE YOU CAN HELP!
