October is almost at an end which means Halloween will soon be with us! This year Halloween falls after the October half term but that doesn’t mean your half term can’t be filled with lots of Halloween fun. If you’re stuck for ideas, you’ll be able to find a helpful list of activities to complete below:

Scary Movie Party

Scary movies are a massive part of Halloween. There are always new releases in the cinema each year along with plenty of options on tv and streaming services. It’s certainly an activity that children can take part in too. There are loads of child friendly Halloween films, take a look at the list below and host your own child friendly scary movie party!

  • Goosebumps
  • Coraline
  • Harry Potter
  • The Little Vampire
  • Hotel Transylvania
  • Halloweentown
  • The Haunted Mansion
  • Hocus Pocus
  • Casper
  • Monster House
  • Ghostbusters

Apple Bobbing

This activity is very simple… all you need is a large tub filled with water and a good number of apples. All you need to do it take turns putting your head under the water to grab the apples. You may need a few towels for after the successful or unsuccessful bobs. You get to have fun and it encourages eating one of your five a day during a time when there are lots of sweet treats about!

Time to get baking

There’s already plenty of tasty treats about at Halloween so why not add to them by warming up that oven and getting stuck in yourself. You can cater for your crowds with tastes but there’s plenty of spooky recipes to use whether it’s cakes, cookies, buns, biscuits or beyond! Here’s a helpful list of Halloween recipes from BBC Good Food: CLICK HERE

Trick or Treat

You can’t have Halloween without trick or treating. Depending on the age of the children, we would recommend accompanying them when visiting neighbouring houses. It’s important to remember that you don’t have to leave to house to take part in trick or treating. Why not decorate the house and hide sweets around the rooms! Remember to stock up extra sweets for those that might visit your house!

Pumpkin Carving

You can’t have a list of fun Halloween activities and not include pumpkin carving! You can pick pumpkins up anywhere these days from supermarkets and various shops but don’t forget that you can also pick them at pumpkin patches. Did you know you can go pumpkin picking at Walby Farm Park! CLICK HERE

Once you’ve chosen your pumpkins, it’s time to get creative. Whatever design you go for, make sure you take your time and stay safe!
