Cockermouth


Cockermouth is an ancient market town in the borough of Allerdale in Cumbria.  The town is situated on the edge of the western Lake District, providing easy access to some of the area’s most stunning and undiscovered scenery.  Birthplace to William and Dorothy Wordsworth, Cockermouth is a bustling little town with a vibrant marketplace and is well known for its many specialist and independent shops, most being members of the ‘Cockermouth & District Chamber of Trade’.

River Cocker & Flood Markers

A beautiful walk through along the river takes you past an old water mill, several paddocks, farms, and all whilst getting a great view of the surrounding countryside. If your interested in nature walks farm animals or just looking for somewhere to go jogging, this is a must visit location.

Wordsworth House & Garden

Wordsworth House and Garden is an old Georgen building that is open to the public. The building acts as a snapshot of the past, with workers dressed in authentic clothing from the period, and the house being set up to display how the people of the time would have lived. With plenty of events and activities for the family it comes highly recommended for any fans of history.
