With the recent weather you would have thought that Summer was just around the corner… and within a few days you then would have thought it was Winter that was around the corner. It is in-fact Spring that is just around the corner and it will have officially sprung come Wednesday March 20th.
Spring is the time of year when people traditionally start thinking about selling their home. Christmas is done and dusted, and the summer holidays are too far away to think about (not that you can’t plan them early) which means it’s a great time to put your house on the market. With this in mind, we’ve got some tips on what you can do to help increase the chances of selling your home in Spring, if that’s what you want to do!
Here’s Grisdales Guide on top tips for selling your home in Spring:
Spring clean
When a buyer comes to view your home, they’re going to imagine themselves living there. What you can do to try and help this process is to make sure the house is spotless, and you’ve had a clear out of any unwanted belongings. First of all, you want to make a good impression and show your home off in the best possible light but you also want to help the visualisation process, piles of boxes and muddy carpets aren’t going to help this.
Cooking up a storm
The kitchen is a vital part of the home. You want to make sure that you’re offering a room up that is up to scratch. If your kitchen is ageing, you can make adjustments for small prices that will have a big impact e.g. replace cupboard doors and make sure all drawers are functioning.
Get your brushes out
Spring is a great time to give your home a fresh lick of paint. Go with the season and debut a bright yellow colour… or if you don’t fancy turning your house into a giant submarine, just give it a fresh coating of its previous colour. It’s not just the outside that you have to think about, it’s amazing what a fresh colour can do to transform a room in your house.
KERB APPEAL
For a potential buyer to view your home, they will have to turn up at your property and view the outside of the home. You want to make sure that your kerb appeal is there for everyone to see. To help maintain your kerb appeal, scout out around your property and make any necessary repairs before you look to sell your home. Similar to your kitchen, simple corrections can make a big impact e.g. fixing a wonky fence.
WORD OF MOUTH
Spread the word! Tell friends, family and colleagues that your house is going to go on the market, you’ll be able to generate some interest before the for-sale sign even goes up. There’s nothing wrong with selling to a friend, it doesn’t mean you have to drop the price.
